TRADITIONAL CANE POLE · CONCEPT IN DEVELOPMENT
Design preview. These descriptions reflect our current plans and expected performance. On-water testing is still ahead; final specifications may change.
The pleasure of a float disappearing.
A traditional cane-pole concept for unhurried pond-edge afternoons and quiet backwaters. The Heritage is being developed around a familiar ritual: place a small offering, watch the float, and give the water your attention.
How you fish it
A fixed line, hook and float form the simple starting setup, with a light weight when useful. Lower the offering into place or use a controlled underhand swing. Adjust the float to the depth you want to explore, then watch for a dip or sideways movement. There is no reel to operate or to pay out more line.
A suitably selected, longer cane blank is intended to offer more reach than The Minnow, but the final cane, pole length and rig have not been chosen. Minnesota DNR’s cane-pole guide explains the general method; it is not a test of The Heritage.
Intended catches
Small bluegill and other sunfish are the intended focus. A small piece of worm can suit this style where bait is legal; an appropriate artificial fly is another direction to explore. Match the offering to the fish, the water and the rules. Missouri Department of Conservation’s bluegill guidance provides general technique ideas.
Why you’ll enjoy it
The appeal is the pause between placing the offering and seeing the float move. It is fishing built around attention rather than constant casting: a familiar experience to revisit, a simple method to discover, or a quiet shoreline moment to share. The Heritage is intended for people who value that ritual and a thoughtfully considered fishing gift.
Design expectations
Natural cane brings its own grain and character. We are aiming for a comfortable, springy feel, but flex, balance and reach will depend on the cane selected and what prototype testing shows. There are no confirmed action, strength or line ratings. Grip details, line attachment, finish and packaging remain in development.
Without a reel to release line, the fishing spot, fish size and tackle must suit one another. The Heritage is not a promise of suitability for larger fish or difficult cover. Children need adult supervision around hooks and water.
The collection, imagined
Earlier aesthetic board. The Minnow shown here is the previous fixed-line design, not its current reel-ready direction. See the updated Minnow concept.

The Heritage is the center concept. The cane, grip, sleeve and accessories are illustrative design directions, not finalized specifications or confirmed package contents. The board is not to scale and does not show products available for sale.
Before you fish
Check the rules for the exact water and species. Great Smoky Mountains National Park permits only artificial flies or lures with single hooks; bait and liquid scents are prohibited. Handle fish gently with wet hands and minimize time out of water. Read the official park fishing guidance.
No prototype has been built, and fishing suitability has not been tested. The working name, final specifications, pricing and launch timing may change. The Heritage is unavailable to order.
